Amid coronavirus, annual Jagriti Yatra goes digital | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Jagriti Sewa Sansthan today launched Jagriti Digital Yatra 2020, the digital version of its flagship 12-year-old annual ‘Jagriti Yatra‘, under which 500 youth and women are taken on a train journey to explore, understand and learn from ‘Middle India’.
Turning the Covid crisis into an opportunity, this year the yatra will carry over 5,000 digital yatris on a journey of national exploration with another 5 lakh learning yatris accompanying them through digital means for 15 days from December 24 to January 8.
The aim of the digital yatra is to promote ‘Udyamita’ or ‘Enterprise’ on a very large scale.
At the core of JDY 2020 is the belief that entrepreneurial energy in ‘Middle India’ has to be mobilized for revival and growth. Properly supported, leaders in the middle can create local enterprise and local employment helping revive the country as a national movement.
The Jagriti Digital Yatra will reach out to 20-30 million Indians through a media outreach planned from October ‘20 to January ‘21.
Yatris will interact through live sessions with 12 role models at key locations where the Yatra stops which are: New Delhi, Deoria, Nalanda, Ganjam, Vishakhapatnam, Sri City, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Tilonia.

The yatra will have national speakers like Kiran Bedi, RA Mashelkar, R Gopalakrishnan. There will be panel discussions on six key issues relevant for smaller towns and districts – health, women empowerments, digital, rurbanization, agriculture, apparel and handicrafts.
The yatra will have over 90 hours of content and engagement with more than 200 speakers over 15 days. The 5 lakh ‘Learning Yatris’ or ‘Pratibhagis’ will learn by following this 15-day national journey on a daily basis.
