On Thursday, a meeting was held between officials of the UT education department and principals and heads of government schools of UT Chandigarh, wherein heads and principals of government schools were given instructions regarding preventive measures to be undertaken.
The schools have been instructed for provision of thermal screening at the entry points in the schools. The Principals and Heads were directed to take all precautionary measures including physical distancing, use of face covers, frequent hand-washing, following respiratory etiquette provision of safe and clean drinking water and sanitization of schools.
The schools have further been directed to prohibit all activities and events that can lead to overcrowding.
The final decision about the date and the plan for reopening will be decided by the competent authority.
The meeting elaborated on the measures to be followed, keeping in view various parameters including Generic Preventive Measures, Arrangements to be made before the opening of schools planning and scheduling of Activities, availability, and management of supplies, points to be taken care of after opening of schools, hygiene, and sanitation, risk communication and psycho-social well-being.
The meeting was attended by Deputy District Education Officer Ravinder Kaur, Mission Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha, Manjit Kaur, and the Principals and Heads of all Government schools of UT, Chandigarh.
It was after the Ministry of home affairs issued guidelines permitting schools to let students of classes IX to XII visit schools on a voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers, subject to the written consent of their parents/guardians that Schools were told by the education department to seek their consent.
