KOLKATA: Sreemanti Dey, a student at DPS Ruby Park, was declared the Bengal topper in JEE (Main), the results of which were declared late on Friday. Dey, who took the engineering entrance exam in the first phase in January, secured 99.9 percentile marks. She did not appear for the second phase, which was conducted from September 1 to 6. But none from the two phases could outrank Dey.
Dey had also secured third rank in WBJEE.
“We are thrilled. This is the best news we have received in a long while. She was so confident about scoring well that she did not take the exam in the second slot,” said vice-principal Indrani Chattopadhyay.
