NEET exam underway in Lucknow at 72 centres – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Around 36,000 medical aspirants are appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) at 72 examination centres in Lucknow.

The exam is held for admission on medical and dental undergraduate seats at both private and government medical institutions.

While the exam is from 2pm to 5pm, aspirants were called to their respective exam centres from 11am. This was however done in batches so that covid-19 protocols of social distancing are followed for entry to the exam centre, temperature checks of aspirants once inside the centre, document verification and so on.

A number of TOI reporters on the ground found that while at some centres norms were being followed, even microphones were being used asking people to not overcrowd the entrance and strict vigilance was being done, at certain other centres, lapses were also found.

While aspirants and their parents also indulged in crowding near the entrances, at a few centres such as at HS Memorial Public School, police constables were found to be busy on their smartphones, seated in a corner rather than enforcing social distancing.

At the centres in Lucknow, outstationed students are also appearing for the exam from different districts of the state.
