NET exam dates to clash with Durga Puja – Times of India

Kolkata: Several UGC NET examinations, which will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), have clashed with the Durga Puja dates. Examinations for subjects like geography, education, Bengali, Urdu and Hindi, among others, will be held on Panchami, Sasthi and Saptami, between October 21 and October 23. The decision to hold the exams during the biggest festival of Bengal has miffed the candidates who had patiently waited for the announcement of the exam dates.
Mahendra Nath Pal, a Bengali PG student of Calcutta University who will take the examination this year, said it will be difficult to concentrate as the festival will be on. “The authorities should have taken into consideration the festival and then decide on the date,” Pal said. This will be his second attempt after the first one in June 2019. “We will have to appear in two papers on a single day. It will be difficult, but we shall have to adjust and give out best shot,” Pal added.
With the dates of the examinations clashing with Durga Puja, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter, terming it to be a “ridiculous” decision by the NTA.

The National Eligibility Test, which is the qualifying exam for the post of assistant professor or research fellow, was scheduled to be held in June.
