Rahul Gandhi stopped from marching to Hathras, detained | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was on Thursday detained by the Uttar Pradesh police while he was on his way to Hathras along with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Earlier, Rahul was pushed in the melee and fell on the ground as the police stopped their march on the expressway.
Rahul and Priyanka were walking towards Hathras after their vehicle was stopped by Uttar Pradesh police on the expressway.
“We have been stopped from going to Hathras. While we were walking towards Hathras, we were stopped repeatedly. Many of our workers were injured as police resorted to lathi charge on them. But we are determined. The blows of an arrogant government cannot stop us. One wishes these police batons were used to protect the dalit daughter,” Priyanaka tweeted.

Rahul Gandhi told media personnel that he was pushed by the cops and he fell on the ground. “I want to ask, can only Modi Ji and people of BJP and the RSS walk in this country? Why can’t a normal person walk? Our vehicle was stopped, so we started walking,” Rahul said.
Later in a tweet, Rahul took a dig at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and said, “Such is extent of jungle raj in UP that even a visit to a distressed family makes the government scared. Don’t be so scared Mr Chief Minister.”
Noida ADCP Ranvijay Singh said that they had stopped the Congress leaders as the Epidemic Act was being violated. “We will not allow them to proceed forward,” he said.
Earlier today, Priyanka in a tweet claimed that the family of the victim was being forced to keep quiet. They have been kept under house arrest and are not being allowed to speak to the media.
