Senate nominee for BDU VC search committee elected – Times of India


TRICHY: Former registrar of Madurai Kamaraj University V Alagappan was unanimously elected as senate nominee for the three-member vice chancellor search committee of Bharathidasan University (BDU) on Friday.

The Times of India on October 05 reported the possible nomination of Alagappan to the vice chancellor search committee.

He was nominated in a special meeting of the senate that was convened on Friday.

BDU initiated the selection process for its next vice chancellor on October 1 by convening a special meeting of the syndicate.

S Mohan, retired professor from Alagappa University was unanimously made syndicate nominee.

As the election of both, syndicate and senate nominees has been done, the committee will be complete once the government appoints its nominee.

Government nominee will also be the convenor of the committee, who will head the panel and start the selection process of the next vice chancellor.

The tenure of incumbent vice chancellor P Manisankar is ending in January.
